To continue celebrating Te Papa’s awe-inspiring Vivienne Westood & Jewellery exhibition, Museum Education Specialist Laura Jones will lead us through a fun and engaging session to explore identity through adornment.
Celebrated as one of the most influential fashion designers the 20th and 21st centuries, Westwood is also remembered as a disruptor and activist.
Join us for a special 2-hour workshop where we’ll spend some time in the exhibition considering how Vivienne Westwood’s creative activism and bold designs might inspire our own exploration of who we are and how we connect to the world. We’ll then move to the learning lab, Hīnātore, where Laura will take us through a range of creative tools from hands-on collages to digital tools to express ourselves, our personal identity and our connection to the world!
Following the workshop, you can use your ticket to re-enter the exhibition at your own leisure.
Laura Jones has worked in the museum education sector for over eight years. Engaging audiences and deepening narratives using art and objects is her passion. Previously, Laura has taught in schools in Cambridge, London, Barcelona, and Wellington, where her interest in art and object-based learning began. She has a degree in English and Art History, and Postgraduate qualifications in both Education and Museum and Heritage Studies. Laura loves to help people develop personal connections with art and discover the power of objects to explore critical ideas and narratives. She is passionate about helping teachers and museum professionals engage with museums in creative ways to open up the museum space for challenging conversations.
