Come along anytime between 12noon and 2pm and enjoy your members’ preview of Robin White: Something’s Happening Here before it opens to the public on Saturday 04 June.
More than 70 works from across Dame Robin White’s 50-year career will form what the artist describes as a ‘family reunion’, bringing together works from 22 galleries and living rooms across the country.
Explore Robin White’s celebrated portraits and Aotearoa landscapes from the 1970s, and the ambitious collaborative works she has made with artists from across the Pacific and New Zealand in recent years.
“None of the works have come from my studio, they have been out in the world engaging with people and people engaging with them,” she says. “Each work brings to the exhibition stories that are known only to that work and the people with whom they have lived.
“There is a richness in that, it is way beyond me.”
Nina Tonga, Curator Contemporary Art, will join us with a couple of pop up talks at 12noon and 1pm which will give some insights into the exhibition as a whole.
